Crunchyroll has announced that Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will be available to stream on the anime streaming service starting on April 30.
The announcement follows previous confirmation that the film would arrive on streaming this spring, over six months after releasing in North American theaters. The service did not provide an exact release time, but Crunchyroll has confirmed that the film will be available to stream in both subbed and dubbed formats.
The streaming release will inaugurate Crunchyroll’s annual ‘Ani-May’ celebrations, which have previously included Crunchyroll Store deals and a selection of anime being made available for free. The celebratory month will culminate in the 2026 Anime Awards, hosted in Tokyo, on May 23. The Chainsaw Man movie is nominated at those very awards for ‘Film of the Year.’
We got the chance to review the first and only Chainsaw Man movie ahead of its North American release last October. While writer Raphael Motamayer did shout out some “bonkers fight scenes,” he ultimately praised it as a “a compelling and hauntingly beautiful romance accompanied by one of the best movie soundtracks of the year”.
The film, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara at animation studio MAPPA, has grossed over $160 million globally, making it one of the highest grossing Japanese animated movies of all time. The movie released on digital this past December, and continues to be available to rent or buy on marketplaces like Prime Video. Surprisingly, there’s no word on any home video releases.
Crunchyroll’s announcement happens to follow relatively soon after the conclusion of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga. Shonen Jump recently published the final chapter of Chainsaw Man after a rather abrupt announcement, which was met with mixed reviews across the internet.
The manga’s conclusion does not seem to have any impact on the development of the anime, however. Season 2 is currently in development at studio MAPPA, and will pick up right after the movie with the Assassins Arc. Meanwhile, Crunchyroll recently hiked prices across all of its streaming plans.
