Devil May Cry Season 3 Update

Netflix has reportedly greenlit Devil May Cry Season 3 ahead of Season 2’s release.

According to MP1st, the streaming giant is already on board for a further season, with the site’s sources claiming “production is already in motion behind the scenes.” It’s fully in-line with prior comments from showrunner Adi Shankar, who has long teased that the show has been designed to follow a multi-season arc.

The news follows the recently released action-packed trailer that gave us a brief look into what we can expect in Devil May Cry Season 2, when Dante comes face-to-face with his long-lost brother, Vergil. Like the first season, Shankar plays around with both canonical events and their timelines, with Vergil insisting that when Mundus, the Prince of Darkness, found him as a child, he “set him free.”

Devil May Cry Season 2 launches on Netflix on May 12, 2026, and it’s currently one of our 10 most anticipated shows coming in May. Season 1 focused on Dante’s conflict with the terrorist White Rabbit and an impending apocalypse, and closed on the shock news that his twin brother Vergil was alive. Shankar promised Season 2 will continue to deliver plenty of surprises for fans, previously saying that he was “allergic to formula.”

“I dislike when successful shows turn into comfort food,” he said in a recent interview. “Devil May Cry won’t be TV that loops. My mission for Season 2 was to capture the feeling of a 2000s film franchise entry where the audience can’t predict the next turn.”
