Doom: The Dark Ages developer id Software has announced a new free update coming to the first-person shooter’s Revelations DLC next month: an endless single-player “Slaughter Mode.”
As announced on today’s Slayers Club Live livestream with Doom: The Dark Ages game director Hugo Martin, Slaughter Mode will be “an endless single player mode where players fight through escalating demon waves across multiple arenas, earning cosmetics and their personal best in round/score.”
Though id didn’t give a specific launch date for the Slaughter Mode update, we can probably rule out November 19! And if you haven’t played the stellar The Dark Ages yet, or its excellent expansion, Revelations, now’s the time!
Fortunately, id Software carries on after layoffs hit the studio earlier this year, which prompted id co-founders John Romero and John Carmack to each separately comment on the staff reductions, which in turn prompted a response from both the studio and Martin himself.
