Marvel Studios has revealed a new Avengers: Doomsday poster, giving audiences a closer look not only at Doctor Doom but also at the three Latverian witches who will accompany him this December.

This latest look at the new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie was shared on social media as part of this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in Spain. It was an event that saw stars like Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, and David Harbor make an appearance, with this latest look coming arriving as a little more than a high-res look at Robert Downey Jr.’s take on a classic comic book villain.

Doctor Doom takes center stage in the new Avengers: Doomsday poster. He’s looking as menacing as ever, striking a pose similar to the one we’ve seen before but with somewhat better lighting. The real highlight from the new poster, however, is the three Latverian witches standing behind him.

These three witches – and their hidden identities – have been the subject of much debate amongst MCU fans the last few months. These same mystery characters brought their purple, red, and green robes to San Diego Comic-Con in California this past July. The average onlooker might assume these characters will be little more than henchmen to be discarded in a massive CGI fight sequence, but some aren’t so convinced.

Warning! Potential Avengers: Doomsday spoilers follow.

Many believe the faces behind these cold metal masks may be ones we’ve seen before. Prominent theories suspect the witch with the red robes could be Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, with the green-robed witch’s secret identity being Loki show alum Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie.

While not everyone has landed on the same answer for these aforementioned witches, fans are truly split when it comes to who the character wearing the purple robe is. Some say it’s Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness, while others believe it’s Charlize Theron’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo character, Clea.

As these are all just theories for now, there’s always the chance all three Latverian witches could be nothing more than Doom drones for the Avengers to fight through. Still, recent developments in the MCU have led some to believe Avengers: Doomsday has some secret cameos it’s saving for theaters.

Meanwhile, Mackie took his Comic-Con appearance as an opportunity to tease some of the most surprising moments from the new movie. X/Twitter user @CatherineComTH captured and shared the moment online.

“I think the big thing is the amount of doom you’re going to see,” he said when asked what people will be most surprised by. “Every corner we turn and every time somebody speaks, it’s like, ‘There’s a lot of doom outside.’ It’s non-stop pandemonium.

“The best part about that is what the Russo brothers are great at: giving every character and every person their moment. Every time I go to watch Endgame, every single character was given their moment for the audience to connect with them and grieve with them. I think it’s the same in this movie. You just have so many people.”

All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday arrives December 18, 2026. Until then, you can see what directors Joe and Anthony Russo had to say about the film’s runtime. You can also read what Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming said regarding his lack of understanding of the movie’s plot.
