The cast of Family Guy spinoff Stewie has been announced, and it contains SNL stalwart Kenan Thompson, as well as several roles for Seth MacFarlane.
Family Guy creator MacFarlane will of course be reprising his role as Stewie, in this new series about the world-conquering toddler’s adventures at kindergarten. MacFarlane will also voice Bean, a classmate who Variety reported will say very little as he was “dropped on his head one too many times.”
Another Family Guy alumni, Mike Henry, has also joined the cast. Known for previously playing Cleveland Brown, Henry will now voice BJ, son of Family Guy’s ear-ring wearing Bruce Straight (who he also voices). Kenan Thompson, meanwhile, will voice yet another classmate. Named as Royal, they are described as having “a ‘Hell no’ attitude about the hazards of Stewie’s adventures.”
Other roles will be played by The Rookie’s Melissa O’Neil (who voices Wanda, on whom Stewie will have a crush) and Aaron Lee as Skunk, the kindergarten class’ 100-year-old turtle. There’s no mention of loyal Family Guy dog Brian there — a character with whom Stewie has formed a close friendship with over the years, though Deadline previously reported that he will make recurring appearances.
“After getting the boot from his old preschool, Stewie is forced to enrol in a new one that’s not exactly top-of-the-line,” reads a synopsis. “It’s attended by a handful of kids he doesn’t know, an elderly class turtle with a half-cocked theory on just about everything, and a teacher who probably shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near kids.
“Stewie’s miserable, the other kids are miserable, even the turtle is miserable… until Stewie begins rolling out his trusty array of devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and unforgettable adventure.”
Stewie is set to debut at some point during the 2027-2028 TV season, and already has a 2-season order. MacFarlane is credited as a co-creator and executive producer on the series, though it will be showrun by veteran Family Guy writer Kirker Butler.
Butler has written episodes of Family Guy for more than 20 years, including its popular Empire Strikes Back parody Something, Something, Something Dark Side, plus various episodes of Family Guy’s other spinoff, the now-concluded The Cleveland Show, as well as Only Murders in the Building.
