Grand Theft Auto 6 shirts that were given away for free exclusively at Tokyo Game Show 2026 are already being resold online for hundreds of dollars.
Attendees at Tokyo Game Show who got the chance to participate in a special immersive screening for GTA 6’s viral Netflix special were treated to commemorative T-shirts to celebrate the occasion.
This screening was the exact same extended trailer that launched on Netflix last month, but with more bells and whistles; it featured tricks like surround sound and 4D haptic effects that correlated with what was happening on screen, letting viewers feel like they were actually tagging along with Jason and Lucia as they fled from the fuzz and held up corner stores.
The experience was so popular that the GTA 6 booth closed after just 10 minutes, having already reached capacity — but savvy fans saw an opportunity to capitalize on the overwhelming demand and make some quick cash.
As spotted by Dexerto, the commemorative T-shirts handed out by PlayStation at the game’s TGS 2026 booth for free have already made their way online and are being resold on platforms like eBay for hundreds of dollars.
A quick browse on eBay shows a handful of listings pricing the shirts around $140 – $200, while other goodies that were given out at Rockstar’s booth, like GTA 6-branded stickers and carabiners, are being marked up to the tune of $30 – $40.
This isn’t a new phenomenon, by far; exclusive merchandise like this has become a target for scalpers across several big franchises over the last few years. One Piece’s viral collaboration with Popeye’s is a prime example of this, as scalpers waited in lines that trailed blocks away from their local fast food franchises to snag special Luffy-themed bento boxes, only to list them online for staggeringly high prices.
The same can be said of the Pokemon Trading Card scene; scalpers have become ravenous for Pokemon card packs and merchandise, causing chaos at retailers and even sparking violent confrontations that have ended in arrests.
The hype for GTA 6 is at an all-time high, so we can’t say that these shirts getting resold online is a huge surprise. The city of Miami is even working with Rockstar on some special advertising for the game, having recently erected a massive, $1 million ‘Welcome to Vice City’ sign after entering talks with officials for a possible GTA 6-themed takeover of the entire area.
