Oscar winners Michael B. Jordan and Christopher McQuarrie are reportedly attached to a feature film adaptation of Electronic Arts’ bestselling military video game Battlefield.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McQuarrie – who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Usual Suspects and has directed the last four Mission: Impossible movies – is attached to write, direct and produce Battlefield.

Jordan, who just won the Best Actor Oscar for Sinners, is attached to produce and possibly star. EA will also serve as a producer on the Battlefield movie.

The package is currently being shopped to studios, including Sony and Apple. The movie is meant to be a theatrical not streaming release.

“It is unclear when bidding will commence, but studio business affairs execs better gird their loins for this one. It will not be cheap. Talent costs will be one thing, but even getting rights to the game will be pricey,” THR reports.

Previously, both Fox and Paramount attempted to adapt Battlefield into a TV series.

The Battlefield game franchise began with 2002’s Battlefield 1942. The most recent entry, Battlefield 6, received a score of 8/10 from IGN when it was released last year.

In his Battlefield 6 review, IGN critic Justin Koreis hailed the game for being “expertly crafted, wrapped in a wonderful layer of destructibility that both looks great and materially affects the flow of combat. … Like a precision shot from my trusty M2010 sniper rifle, this one’s a hit.”

Michael B. Jordan is currently in post-production on his next directorial effort, a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, and will next star in Miami Vice ‘85, which begins filming later this year.
