Santa Monica Studio head of creative Cory Barlog has announced that the next Kratos-led God of War game is coming after God of War Laufey, and connects directly to her story.

Confirmation comes from the ongoing God of War Laufey panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, which IGN is reporting on live here.

We’re still waiting on further details from either Sony or Cory Barlog during the God of War SDCC panel. God of War Laufey is expected to launch in 2027, given we know it will launch on a physical disc, and Sony has said it will do away with PlayStation discs from 2028. We have no indication yet when this Kratos-led God of War game will come out, or which platform it is targeting.

During the panel, Barlog said of God of War Laufey that he wanted to see an extension and expansion of the world where the characters we meet are unexpected. “Everything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next,” he explained. “Phranque has been around since the beginning. It’s interesting to see how to build this world out. Everything in the game is setting up for something so amazing.”
