Project Motor Racing Adds Free Holden Commodore, PC Triple-Screen Support in 2.1 Update

Giants Software and Straight4 Studios have launched a new, free DLC pack alongside a “significant new update” for Project Motor Racing. Update 2.1 includes a total rebuild of the handling model for the GT3 and GT4 categories, Alpha triple-screen support on PC, and more.

The ‘Aussie Rivals’ pack brings one of the greatest rivalries in motorsport to Project Motor Racing for the first time, introducing the 2013 Holden VF Commodore and a “completely reworked” 2013 Ford Falcon FG. These Australian domestic models represented the last truly local clash between Holden and Ford, before Holden transitioned to the imported ZB Commodore shell in 2018 and the death of car manufacturing in Australia saw the Supercars series subsequently shift to Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang shells. This era of V8 Supercar racing has been represented in a string of Forza Motorsport games, as well as on iRacing and 2014’s Grid Autosport, but never in Gran Turismo – so this may come as particularly appetising for PS5 players.

Alongside the DLC pack comes Update 2.1, which – according to Straight4 – “delivers major improvements across content, physics, online racing, immersion, presentation, and close-quarters racing.”

The update includes a complete rebuild of the GT4 and GT3 classes led by new CCO Aristotelis Vasilakos, former handling guru at Kunos Simulazioni for Assetto Corsa. It also features Alpha triple-screen support, improved collisions, and various “graphical enrichments throughout the game.” Logitech’s ‘Trueforce’ feedback has also now been enabled on all platforms.

Players will now be able to join supported online sessions after they have started, without having to wait for the next full restart, and those registered for a ranked session will no longer need to stay on the registration screen while they wait. That is, once you’re registered you’ll be able to return to other areas of the game. When the ranked session is good to go, you’ll get a notification that will allow you to join directly from wherever you are.

“Players have been putting in the laps, giving us the feedback, and pushing us to make PMR better,” said new Straight4 Studios CEO Kevin Boland. “Update 2.1 is the result of that process: a major GT4 and GT3 overhaul, cleaner racing, better online flow, stronger immersion features, and the free Aussie Rivals Pack, delivered as a big thank you to our community that continues to inspire and shape Project Motor Racing.”

This new update follows an earlier major update for Project Motor Racing released back in March, which “aimed at resetting PMR’s foundation and bringing the sim much closer to what a serious motorsport title should feel like.”
