Resurrection Season 2 Is Bringing Back a Dead Villain

Spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 are featured in this article.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 will bring back one of Dexter’s foes, much to the surprise of fans.

In the first season of Dexter: Resurrection, the titular serial killer embeded himself in a secret society of other murderous fiends, all hosted by a wealthy true crime obsessive known as Leon Prater. One by one, Dexter picked them off – but there were two that he didn’t actually kill himself. One is Al, a wholesome family man with a dark side who managed to flee back home to the Midwest near the end of the season. The other is Mia, played by Krysten Ritter, who will return in Season 2 per a new report from Deadline.

Dexter believed he could have a Bonnie and Clyde-esque relationship with Mia where the two take down evil doers together, but he quickly realized she doesn’t share his code. Dexter ultimately framed Mia for the murder of a man killed by his son, Harrison, and sent her off to prison. In prison, Prater’s bodyguard, Charley, paid off a guard to kill Mia and make it look like a suicide. So, with all of that said, it may come as a shock to learn that Krysten Ritter will return in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

Deadline reported the news, but noted that it isn’t aware of who Ritter will play. It would be surprising if she played anyone other than Mia, given they already did the twist of a killer with a secret twin last season, but nothing is off the table. Some fans previously theorized that Charley had paid a guard to make it look like Mia was dead but, instead, it was a ruse to break her out of prison. It’s unclear if that’s where things are going, though.

What’s more likely is that Mia is featured in a flashback, or as one of the many ghosts that haunt Dexter. The show frequently sees Dexter communicating with deceased friends and foes as an extension of his conscious. Whether or not someone like Mia really made enough of an impact to be featured like that remains to be seen. Uma Thurman is expected to return as Charley this season, so perhaps Mia’s re-appearance will be connected to her.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is expected to be pretty massive, with Brian Cox playing the New York Ripper – an elderly serial killer who torments the families of his victims. He will be joined by Dan Stevens, who is playing the Five Borough Killer, as well as Kane Hodder and Chris Jericho, who are both expected to play victims of Dexter.
