The Batman Part 2 Cast May Feature Charles Dance

The Batman Part 2 Cast May Feature Charles Dance

Game of Thrones alum Charles Dance has reportedly entered talks to join The Batman Part 2.

Deadline reported that the actor is currently in negotiations to join the already star-studded cast today. While details are up in the air for now, the site’s sources said that, should he reach a deal with DC, it is believed he will play father of Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face, Charles Dent.

Dance has experience playing tough dads, as he is likely best known, at least by fantasy fans, for playing Tywin Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Some of his earliest projects, such as Father Brown, see his resume date back to the ‘70s, but movie fans may have also recently seen him in things like Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The First Omen, and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

While Harvey’s role as both a hero and villain in Gotham City is one comic book fans know all too well, many may not be familiar with his dad. Charles Dent, who has gone by Christopher Dent in some previous iterations of the character, is Two-Face’s not-so-loving father. He’s not a name explored by DC too often, giving the The Batman Part 2 team at DC Studios room to potentially show viewers a new side to his character should Dance play him.

Should Dance sign on to play the Dent dad, he’ll join Sebastian Stan, who was announced for the film back in January before later being confirmed to play Harvey. Scarlett Johansson, who joined The Batman sequel in December, is expected to play Harvey’s wife. Although the growing Dent lineup suggests the Gotham district attorney will undergo his villainous transformation, details about the movie’s plot have yet to be revealed.

DC is reportedly attempting to round out the Dent family with another big name. Other names expected to return from the original 2022 take on the Caped Crusader include Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Barry Keoghan as the Joker.

The Batman Part 2 currently has a theatrical release date of October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves has returned as its director and writer. Last month, Pattinson called the film’s script “extraordinary.”

“I think it’s going to be a really, really, really special movie,” the star said at the time. “And very, very different to… even from the last one. I was reading it going like, ‘Oh wow! Okay!’ It’s going to be interesting seeing it come out. It’s taking some big swings.”
