The Blood of Dawnwalker Won’t Run at 60fps on Console, Even on PS5 Pro

The Blood of Dawnwalker Won’t Run at 60fps on Console, Even on PS5 Pro

Developer Rebel Wolves has revealed footage of its highly anticipated RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, running on consoles, along with the graphics modes available at launch. None will hit 60fps, however.

An action role-playing game set in 14th century Europe in which you play as Coen, a half-human, half-vampire attempting to save his family, The Blood of Dawnwalker is one of 2026’s most exciting-looking games and is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 3.

But anyone choosing to play on console won’t get quite as smooth a gameplay experience as those on PC, it would seem — even on the beefier PS5 Pro and Series X machines. A new trailer reveals the different performance modes available on each Sony and Microsoft machine. They are:

PS5 Pro

  • Quality: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 30fps
  • Balanced: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 40fps

PlayStation 5 Pro offers enhanced visual quality across both modes.

Base PS5

  • Quality: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 30fps
  • Balanced: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 40fps

Xbox Series X

  • Quality: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 30fps
  • Balanced: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 40fps

Xbox Series X

  • Quality: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 30fps
  • Balanced: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 40fps

No details are given regarding The Blood of Dawnwalker’s performance on the comparatively underpowered Xbox Series S, however.

With a maximum of 40 fps being targeted on both PlayStation and Xbox, it’s fair to say some fans are disappointed, with some already saying they’re now getting it on PC because of the news.

Im disappointed. No 60 FPS mode. Guys… Come on. Seriously? PC it is then, but you could’ve pushed for more on the Pro.

With precise swordplay at the centre of the RPG’s combat systems, every frame can count when it comes to life or death, so it is somewhat surprising to see Dawnwalker not hitting 60fps when so many console games achieve this, especially on the powerful PS5 Pro.

Whether this is something that can be patched after release is yet unknown, but it’s certainly thrown an unexpected wrench into the mix just weeks before launch for some players.

The Blood of Dawnwalker isn’t the only game people are talking about in regard to framerate, with the biggest game of the year, if not decade, GTA 6, also at the centre of a 60fps conversation. Perhaps we’ll find out more about this from Rockstar next week during the Extended Look debuting on Netflix. That will certainly distract from the recent spate of leaks hitting the game.
