The Boys will screen its series finale in theaters in 4XD.
The Season 5 finale, Episode 8, is set for May 19 at 9.30pm, alongside the episode’s release on Prime Video.
“In two weeks, we’re going out with a bang,” The Boys X / twitter account posted. “Literally, because ya might vibrate watchin’ the series finale in 4DX. Get yer mitts on a seat with the purchase of a concession voucher, which is good towards sweets or soda the day of. See ya May 19 at 9:30 p.m.”
4DX is a cinema technology that enhances films with environmental effects and motion-activated seats. It features water sprays, wind, fog, strobe lighting, and scents synced to the on-screen action. You can imagine in a series as over-the-top and gory as The Boys, there will be plenty for 4DX to work with.
The Boys is on the home stretch, with just a few episodes of the fifth and final season left. We just got a teaser video for Episode 6, which we’ve spent some time analyzing for clues on what to expect. We’re promised plenty of big character deaths between now and the end, too.
Last week, Homelander actor Antony Starr addressed concern that The Boys may join the growing list of controversial TV show endings by insisting it won’t conclude like a recent series finale that failed to kill anyone (he didn’t name it, but he was clearly talking about Stranger Things).
“As our boss Eric [Kripke, The Boys showrunner] has said, don’t get attached to any characters on this show because everyone’s head is potentially on the block,” Starr said.
While you wait to find out, check out what Kripke had to say about the real world inspiration behind Firecracker’s fate, and his reaction to the cancelation of spinoff, Gen V.
