The Last Airbender Actor Blasts Paramount Executives

Iroh actor Greg Baldwin has taken to social media to unleash a string of posts aimed at what he called “straight up evil” Paramount executives after news broke that it had canceled an Avatar: The Last Airbender RPG.

Baldwin, who has voiced Zuko’s wise fire-bending uncle since Season 3 of the original show, voiced his concerns for the direction of the franchise on X/Twitter earlier today. Responding to IGN’s reporting that the previously announced AAA Avatar: The Last Airbender RPG would no longer see the light of day, he said he had a “hard truth” to share with fans.

“I can speak freely because I’m 65 years old and my pocketful of f**ks is seriously depleted,” Baldwin said. “Working as a paralegal at various studios in LA for thirty years…I had the opportunity to observe studio executives closely. They’re generally a slippery and clueless bunch who shouldn’t be allowed near anything remotely creative…but the new regime at Paramount is straight up evil. I assure you.

“These soulless bastards have nothing but contempt for a show about grace and redemption and the struggle against fascism. ATLA is a mystery to them. They. Do. Not. Value. The. Franchise.”

Other Avatar: The Last Airbender fans have been vocal about how Paramount has handled the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon in recent years. Some have been critical of its decision to move forward with a live-action adaptation without its original creative leads, for example, while others, such as animator Julia Schoel, don’t approve of the company’s decision to skip out on a theatrical release for the series’ new movie.

Baldwin, who took over the role of Iroh after original actor Mako passed away in 2006, said he isn’t scared to speak his mind because “Nickelodeon will never hire me again anyway.” He puts his feelings bluntly: “Paramount Doesn’t Care About ATLA.”

He signed off, posting an image of Iroh flipping off the camera while surrounded by lighting with the caption, “In conclusion… f**k you, Paramount.”

Although the Avatar: The Last Airbender show finished many, many years ago, fans are still looking forward to the new movie, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. The live-action adaptation will return for Season 2 later this month. You can also learn more about the recently announced Paramount Games here.
