The upcoming stop-motion series will stream exclusively on Disney+ and DisneyXD, as revealed in a special showcase during PokémonXP.
PokémonXP is underway, marking the debut of the very first fan convention completely dedicated to all-things Pokémon. Of course, some exclusive reveals and big announcements are expected, and one of those involves the brand’s next big animated series.
First announced in July 2025, The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu is exactly what it sounds like — a charming, humorous romp that follows the two Pokémon as they get into all sorts of hijinks in Galar.
As revealed at PokémonXP, the series will be streamed exclusively on Disney+ and the DisneyXD channel. This was an unexpected turn of events, as the brand’s first stop motion series, Pokémon Concierge, streams solely on Netflix.
This new show is being made in collaboration between The Pokémon Company International and Aardman Animations, the British stop-motion animation studio best known for beloved properties like Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.
As told during the show’s behind-the-scenes panel at PokémonXD, there are 262 people working on the project at any given time. Each animator achieves roughly 13.5 seconds of animation per week, with each episode taking 110 weeks to complete. Three episodes are usually in production simultaneously, allowing the crew to get as much work done as possible.

The panel also showed off the very first animation tests for both Pichu and SirFetch’d, as well as an official trailer for the show, which will release sometime in 2027.
The series’ official logline reads: “Our heroes embark on a gallant quest to help and protect Pokémon across the region. Their missions rarely go as planned, but their noble deeds forge their friendship as they step bravely into the unknown. Peril, alliances, rivalries, extraordinary Pokémon, and endless laughs await them.”
As told by the folks at Aardman, Escavalier will serve as the main antagonist of the series, which they described as a “knight that could challenge and compete against” Sirfetch’d.
“What I love is the personalities we’re giving to all these characters,” James Young of Aardman Animations said. “I’m really excited for the Pokémon family, and for all of you and to see how you like them, to see the personalities we’ve given to these Pokémon characters in our world.”
Pokémon Concierge was also confirmed for a second season back in 2025, set to air on Netflix this September.
