Tom Holland Could Earn More Than $100 Million From Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Tom Holland Could Earn More Than 0 Million From Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Tom Holland stands to make a massive payday from the staggering success of his latest Spidey movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

As reported by The Wrap, three sources with knowledge of Holland’s contract say the A-lister secured $20 million in base pay for the Marvel blockbuster, with the added potential of earning upwards of $100 million in backend bonuses.

One of these sources claimed that Holland’s bonuses aren’t capped, meaning there’s no telling how much he’ll earn in total.

“He will make at least [$100 million],” they told the outlet, declining to give a ballpark amount as to what the ultimate figure could end up looking like.

The Wrap also shared a graphic showing the dramatic increase in pay Holland has commanded for his Spider-Man films over the years. In 2016, Holland earned $250,000 for his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, a number that doubled to half a million for Spider-Man: Homecoming the following year. He earned an estimated $4 million for 2019’s Far From Home and $10 million for No Way Home in 2021, making Brand New Day the most profitable picture in his Marvel career thus far.

While the $100 million figure is certainly substantial, it doesn’t come as a total surprise, given how successful Brand New Day has been at the box office this summer. The film became the fastest movie ever to rake in $700 million domestically, and is the first Spider-Man movie to reach $2 billion in theaters. It’s also one of the most successful Marvel movies of all time, dethroning Avengers: Endgame to secure the biggest domestic opening weekend in history.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews, currently sitting at a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes with a Certified Fresh rating. We scored it a 7 out of 10, with IGN’s Tom Jorgensen saying it “effectively refocuses on the most reliable pillars of the webslinger: battling inner turmoil, swinging around NYC saving the day, and looking cool while doing so.”

While Brand New Day made history on several fronts, Avengers: Doomsday isn’t far behind. Pre-sales for the film are already tracking to outpace those for Spider-Man, with The Wrap reporting that its first two days of ticket pre-sales are 65% ahead of those for Holland’s latest web-slinging romp.

Doomsday doesn’t release until December 18, so it’ll be interesting to see how the final box office figures look when all is said and done. For now, fans can check out what’s coming next for the MCU, including the latest casting announced for Marvel’s X-men movie and Hugh Jackman apparently having some sort of role in Doomsday, along with Deadpool. Possibly.
