Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which owns social media platform Truth social, is to charge for real-time access to posts from what it calls the most influential accounts, including those that can move financial markets.

The new licensed data service, called Truth API, will be available to institutional customers from 1 August. TMTG said it has already signed customers and is onboarding additional partners ahead of the launch.

The API delivers posts within milliseconds using machine-readable data feeds and is aimed at organisations that rely on low-latency information, including banks, high-frequency trading firms, and algorithmic investors. The service also includes a historical archive of Truth Social posts dating back to 2022.

TMTG said no official integrated API previously existed, forcing firms that monitor influential Truth Social accounts to rely on manual tracking or third-party data collection.

The announcement follows scrutiny over President Donald Trump’s use of Truth Social to announce policy decisions that have moved financial markets. Earlier this week, the BBC reported concerns from ethics experts that charging Wall Street firms for faster access to these posts could give paying customers a trading advantage and raise questions over conflicts of interest.

Kevin McGurn, interim chief executive of TMTG, said: “Markets already move on Truth Social posts. Truth API delivers a direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform’s most market-moving

Truths while advancing our strategy to monetise proprietary assets through a high-margin, recurring revenue stream.”

The company said the launch marks its first data licensing product and expects it to become a long-term recurring revenue stream.

Truth API forms part of TMTG’s broader business, which includes the Truth Social platform, the Truth+ streaming service, and Truth.Fi, its financial services brand.
