As broken by The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Cregger’s ever-expanding horror filmography will now include an adaptation of Siren Head, inspired by the internet-famous creepypasta.
Siren Head is the latest creepypasta to get the Hollywood treatment after Warner Bros. scored the rights to the creature in a million-dollar deal that saw them outbid five other studios.
Weapons’ Zach Cregger, who’s also director of the upcoming 2026 Resident Evil adaptation, is set to co-write the film’s script alongside Brian Duffield, writer of the highly anticipated survival flick Whalefall. Duffield is also slated to direct Siren Head.
Cregger will produce the movie alongside Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Andrew Childs, who will be joined by 12:01 Films’ Scott Glassgold. It’s worth noting that Vertigo also produced Cregger’s lauded horror movie Weapons.
Siren Head is a towering, spindly monster with two sirens where its head should be, created by Canadian illustrator Trevor Henderson in 2018. The creepy creature became an internet obsession in 2019–2020, spawning several hit indie horror games starring the megaphone-headed monstrosity.
Siren Head follows the success of Kane Parson’s Backrooms, another creepypasta adaptation that swept theaters to glowing reviews in June. We gave the film an 8/10, describing the liminal horror flick as a “truly terrifying cinematic rabbit hole.”
It seems that Warner Bros. is hoping to capitalize on the Backrooms’ success, seeing as how it raked in a whopping $330 million against its modest $10 million budget.
With a massive name like Cregger attached, Siren Head is already aiming to be one of the most highly anticipated horror films of the next few years as buzz about the ‘creepypasta cinematic universe’ ramps up.
